Cavani: "Valencia CF are a big club. This is a beautiful challenge for me"
Edinson Cavani is a brand new Valencia CF player. The Uruguayan striker has joined our club for the next two seasons. Following the announcement of his signing. The Uruguayan chatted with VCF MEDIA and shared his thoughts after such an important moment.
Signing for Valencia CF
There have been some very long days, as we were a little anxious to know what was going to happen, waiting for this moment to arrive. We know what Valencia CF represent and this excites us and motivates us for this new challenge.
The passion for Valencia CF
We're here because, right from the start, the club wanted me. It's not just about where you want to go; it's also down to the club having an interest in you. It's taken many days going back and forth, and there was always a desire shown for me to be here. What motivated me the most was that I know that Valencia CF are a big club. This is a beautiful challenge for me, so I'm here because I feel that there is a passion for football which fulfils us as players when it's time to go out onto the pitch.
Affection from the fans
We human beings are all about energy and feeling, and there was something that drew me here. It wasn't just the affection of the fans, but also the energy that the club transmitted. I'm very happy to be part of the history of this club, and I hope that together we can do wonderful things.
The process behind winning
Winning is very important in football. It's a beautiful thing, and something that we all want. However, there is a process behind it. In order to win, there are things that are very important, which is what we try to focus on. You have to prepare yourself 100% in order to perform at 100%. I am always driven by this objective, with a lot of desire to be in top form and give 100%, alongside my friends, my teammates and the fans. We want to achieve things that in the end round off good performances.
Valencia energy
This energy and affection, and the desire that these things awaken in you, drew me here. There were other options and offers, but I decided to come here and that is the only thing that matters and that I am thinking about.
Today I'm part of the city and the team. The only thing that I want is to give my best. I will work for this, in order to walk alongside all of the people of Valencia and enjoy beautiful things.
Hard work
You have to coordinate everything: Your head and your fitness. I'm sure that, in order to compete at this level, you need to be at full fitness, train with your teammates and get in shape, as sometimes, when you aren't training with a club, you need that. It's a question of needing a little time to compete better.
